Information for Authors
Send manuscripts to Editor at the above address.

Manuscripts are accepted for review under the following conditions:

1. The manuscripts (4 copies) should be no more than 35 pages in length (or, for Reflections from the Field, 10 pages), typed, with one-inch margins on all sides, and written in English. All elements of the manuscript (abstracts, block quotes, endnotes, references, etc.) must be double-spaced. The right margin should not be justified. Pages should be numbered consecutively, including endnotes, references cited, tables, and figures. Authors of papers chosen for publication should be prepared to submit a disk copy of their paper's final version, in Word Perfect 5.1.

2. The same work has not been and will not be published elsewhere nor is presently submitted elsewhere. All persons listed as authors have given their approval for the submission of the paper. Copies of letters granting permission to reproduce illustrations, tables, or lengthy quoted passages should be included with the manuscripts.

3. Each manuscript submitted should include, on a separate page, an abstract of 50 to 75 words.

4. The first page should contain the article title, author(s), affiliation(s), a short form of the title as a suggested running head (less than 45 characters including spaces and letters), and the name, phone number, and complete mailing address of the author to whom correspondence should be sent.

5. References cited should begin on a separate page following the endnotes. All references must be cited in text or notes. References cited must follow AAA style, as exemplified in this journal or the American Anthropologist.

6. The manuscript should be written according to AAA style guidelines. For punctuation, abbreviations, grammar, compounding, and other matters of style, consult the Chicago Manual of Style (14th ed., University of Chicago Press, 1993); for spelling and hyphenation, consult Webster's Third New International Dictionary (1981) or its latest abridgement, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (tenth ed., 1993).

7. Tables and figures should be completely understandable independent of the text. Each table and figure must be cited in the text, given a title or caption, and consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals. Authors must provide good quality originals of all figures, to be directly reproduced for publication; photocopies are not acceptable. Tables and figures should be attached to the end of the manuscript following the references cited.

Since AEQ is a refereed journal, manuscripts appropriate for AEQ are sent to outside reviewers. For the purpose of the blind review, all identifying information is normally removed from the body of the paper.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, copyright of the article will be assigned exclusively to the publisher, and it is understood that the publisher will not refuse any reasonable request by the author for permission to reproduce any of his or her contributions to AEQ.
