Be very descriptive of contexts, playground and classroom.
Context = "a culturally and historically situated place and time, a specific here and now." pp. 9
Relate the local to the larger whole in society. Contexts are social and relational and influenced by and influence activity occurring within them. The what people are doing, when and where it is being done. Children have little control over their contexts and also resist by developing their own subcontexts.
Theory-building research begins with hunches or guesses and is undertaken for lack of adequate theory. Theory is a story that opens up a new perspective on a phenomenon. This perspective can constrain others.
"The grounded theory style of analysis is based on the premise that theory at various levels of generality is indespensible for deeper knowledge of a phenomena." (Strauss, 1987, pp. 27)
When building theory, gather information from any source -- other theories, own experience, empirical data.
Triangulation can be achieved by using multiple methods.
